The name Papillarya comes from the English medical term “Papillary Region” and refers to a layer between the dermis and epidermis that strengthens their connection. We see this as an analogy for the transdisciplinarity we aim for in our exhibition concept.

Papillarya was launched in spring 2022 out of a desire to curate exhibitions outside the White Cube. We enjoy working with different people, both inside and outside the art bubble. So far, we have curated exhibitions in a doctor’s office, a former slaughterhouse, community centers, and a residential complex.

In 2025, we look forward to exploring new formats that move beyond competition between artists and create truly inclusive exhibitions.
